If you prefer the latter, then The Last Kingdom (M2TW) Mod is a great addition to your library. There are fantasy mods and there are historical mods for Total War: Kingdoms. Failure to comply could result in the mod not loading or crashing the game mid-session. It requires a bit of manual transferring of files to the source destination. Unfortunately, this is not one of those easy-to-install add-ons. It also remasters sound files from the base game. Lastly, the mod also includes a custom soundtrack that captures the ambiance of the time period. Choose your side as you participate in a recreation of historic battles from this particular period with new campaign scripts reusing most existing maps from the base game. Of course, it comes with new units, equipment, weapons, armor sets, and banners to uniquely identify your troops. Players can expect hours of all-new gameplay experience, from its 13 new factions and 6 new cultures. Aside from Anglo-Saxons, the Gaels, and the Celts, you can even expect the Normans to make an appearance. Aside from the Vikings, you also get to see other cultures existing around the same time. The period covered in The Last Kingdom (M2TW) Mod is from 865 AD to 1066 AD, closely coinciding with historical records pegging the period from 793 AD to 1066 AD.
